Getting found in AI answers

When someone asks AI for a business like yours, does it say your name?

Your next customer is no longer scrolling through ten blue links. They are asking ChatGPT, or Google's AI summary at the top of the page, and acting on the two or three businesses it names. If yours isn't one of them, you never find out you were in the running. You just get fewer enquiries, and no explanation why.

Legacy Creators makes your business one of the ones it names. We are a consultancy specialising in answer engine optimisation — the work of getting a business quoted and recommended inside AI-generated answers — alongside traditional search engine optimisation, which is the foundation the rest is built on. We work from Melbourne, Australia, with clients anywhere.

Search used to give people a list. Now it gives them an answer.

For twenty years, being findable meant ranking on the first page. Someone typed a question, got ten links, and chose between them. Being fourth or fifth still won you the click sometimes. There was room to be one of several options.

That middle ground is disappearing. People now ask ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI summary and get back a short answer naming two or three businesses. There is no page two. The assistant has already done the shortlisting, and the customer trusts it, because it reads like advice rather than advertising. By the time they contact you, the comparison is over — you either made the shortlist or you were never mentioned.

This is why it is worth acting now rather than later. AI assistants build their sense of who is credible over months, from your website, your reviews, your listings and what other sites say about you. The businesses being named today started looking like a trustworthy answer well before anyone asked. The ones catching up are competing against that head start.

The work of earning those mentions has a name: answer engine optimisation, usually shortened to AEO. It sits on top of search engine optimisation, or SEO — the older discipline of ranking well in ordinary search results. The two are not alternatives. AI assistants decide who is worth quoting largely by looking at who already ranks, so the traditional work is what makes the new work possible.

What we do

Three areas of work, usually delivered together. Each engagement is scoped to the individual business.

Getting you into AI answers

Answer engine optimisation

We structure your website and your content so AI assistants can read it, trust it and quote it. That covers schema markup, question-and-answer content, clear factual statements, and making your business details consistent everywhere they appear online.

Ranking in ordinary search

Search engine optimisation

Technical fixes, site structure, page speed, on-page optimisation and content. Answer engines draw on conventional search indexes to decide which sources are credible, so ranking well in ordinary search is what makes the AI side possible in the first place.

Proving it is working

Visibility measurement

We track whether your business is actually being named in AI answers for the questions your customers ask, and report on what changes. Without measurement, this work is guesswork.

Founder, Legacy Creators

Arthur Filiberto is the founder of Legacy Creators. He was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, studied Information Systems, and emigrated to Australia, where he has spent his career in enterprise technology as a product manager working on large internal systems. He is based in Melbourne.

He came to answer engine optimisation from the other side of it. He builds software on top of the large language models themselves, working directly with model APIs rather than just using the chat apps, which meant watching first-hand how these systems choose which sources to trust and repeat. That is an unusual starting point for this work, and it is the reason Legacy Creators treats AI visibility as something you measure and test rather than something you claim.

Legacy Creators is the trading name of Arthur de Paula Filiberto, a sole trader registered in Australia under ABN 42 627 319 380.

Frequently asked questions

Short, direct answers to what people ask most. This section is also what AI assistants are most likely to quote.

What is answer engine optimisation (AEO)?

Answer engine optimisation is the practice of making a business the source that AI assistants cite when they answer a question. It targets ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Claude and Microsoft Copilot. Where search engine optimisation competes for a position in a list of links, answer engine optimisation competes to be quoted inside the answer itself.

How is answer engine optimisation different from SEO?

Search engine optimisation aims to rank a web page in a list of search results. Answer engine optimisation aims to have a business named and cited inside a generated answer. They share the same foundations: a clean site structure, structured data and authoritative content. Answer engine optimisation places extra weight on short factual statements, question-and-answer formatting, schema markup, and consistent business details across the web.

Do I still need SEO if I am doing AEO?

Yes. Answer engines rely heavily on conventional search indexes to decide which sources are trustworthy enough to quote. A website that performs poorly in traditional search is rarely cited by an AI assistant. Legacy Creators treats search engine optimisation as the foundation and answer engine optimisation as the layer built on top of it.

How do I find out whether my business appears in AI answers?

Ask the assistants the questions your customers would ask, such as 'best {your service} in {your city}', and see whether you are named. Results vary between assistants and change over time, so a single check is not conclusive. Legacy Creators offers a free AI visibility audit that checks your business across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews and reports back on what it finds.

How long does answer engine optimisation take to produce results?

It depends on the site and the market. On-page changes such as structured data, content formatting and technical fixes can be picked up within weeks. Building the external signals that answer engines trust, including citations, reviews and third-party mentions, generally takes months. No provider can guarantee that a specific AI assistant will cite a specific business.
